Portfolio life: WFH diary pieces with Citywire Wealth

January 22, 2026

As lock down rumbled on, it was so nice last month to be asked to write a series of blogs or articles for Citywire Wealth magazine, sort of in the style of "a sideways look at the investment sector". Citywire I do find have been spectacularly agile after lock down and their reporting and publishing across Europe is so elegant.

So. I have had three lines of enquiry and a spec to write 700 words each time on wonderful areas looking at the asset management and wealth sectors, based on my experience.

The first asked me: how are asset management firms staying in touch in these odd times. Was it only a month or so back grappling with the home tool kit seemed so novel?

The second post had me reflecting on the strange emptiness of offices and their future meaning.

The third then asked about "the future of financial communications". This is a very delicate and big subject.

I'm very touched to be on this platform. Normally one can write either as a "ghost" for others,or for quite narrow business reporting and presenting. I'm even quite excited to have had an anonymous troll, called "Alf Tupper", from a dark chamber somewhere, who finds me monstrous. That is almost a badge of honour.
